Job Summary of Stockroom Helper:
The Stockroom Helper is responsible for assisting the Receiving Manager in the successful operation of the receiving department.The Stockroom Helper is responsible for supporting the receiving department by unloading, inspecting, and organizing incoming shipments. This role ensures that all products are accurately counted, properly labeled, and stored in designated areas according to company standards.
Responsibilities of Stockroom Helper:
- Focusing on offering top-tier customer service above everything else.
- Representing honesty, accountability, and excellence while complying with all policies.
- Assisting the receiving department manager in ensuring the proper receipt of all incoming items by checking dates, confirming accuracy, and assessing for any damage.
- Supervising the flow of incoming and outgoing goods.
- Structuring the organization of merchandise to ensure a smooth and rapid transition to the selling space.
- Timely and precise handling of purchase orders, return purchase orders, mispicks, invoices, and documentation tasks.
- Examining and sorting out any disparities present.
- Holding discussions with department heads regarding issues with deliveries and vendor out-of-stock situations.
- Providing updates on unique orders that were placed.
- Utilizing a forklift and pallet jack as needed.
- Keeping the back room tidy and well-ordered is essential.
- Assisting department managers in handling performance challenges within their respective departments.
- Supporting the opening and closing procedures of the store, which includes compiling the Daily Sales Report (DSR) and handling cash transactions, along with managing the cashier closeout responsibilities.
- Overseeing register responsibilities that involve assisting with cashiering tasks, managing customer returns and exchanges, responding to customer complaints, and facilitating smooth register shift changes by providing coverage for breaks and other staffing needs.
- Guaranteeing the safety and security of both clientele and workforce.
- Supporting the training and monitoring of department personnel by assigning tasks and ensuring they are carried out.
- Showing readiness to give further aid and reinforcement in the store, and supporting on the sales floor once receiving responsibilities are done.
- Providing responses to customer questions in accordance with company guidelines, including the use of Structure/Function statements or statements that focus on the product's nutritional support.
- Perpetually deepening understanding of products.
- Leveraging SAP and inventory management software to enhance inventory control processes, along with utilizing email correspondence and other IS applications as necessary.
- The job necessitates working a schedule based on the store's needs, potentially including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Employees must work a full-time schedule of 40 hours over five days per week, as well as participate in required store meetings.
- The primary function of this position is not to serve as the overall manager on duty but to handle specific duties within the store.
Qualifications of Stockroom Helper:
- It is recommended to have completed High School, earned a GED, or its equivalent.
- Candidates with prior experience in a grocery or retail setting, specifically in receiving, are preferred, and knowledge of natural foods is considered advantageous.
- Experience managing staff for at least 12 months is recommended.
- Achieving forklift certification is the capability to acquire the necessary credentials for operating a forklift.
- Capacity to pass required food safety training sessions and certifications, and staying compliant with the necessary registration and renewal processes.
- Managing evolving priorities and staying dedicated to the task at hand is crucial.
