Job Description for Cash Handling Associate:

As a Cash Handling Associate, the main task is to ensure a friendly, efficient, and accurate payment process for our customers. This involves processing transactions, handling payments, and promoting BJ's membership options while maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the front end area.

Environmental Job Conditions:

• Repeatedly being upright and mobile on hard surfaces.
• Infrequent stooping, reaching, and carrying loads of up to 30 lbs (heavier items assisted by others).
• Mainly enclosed within indoor surroundings with minimal variation in temperature or noise levels.
• Sporadic exposure to household cleansers.

Qualifications:

Essential duties, key responsibilities, and primary accountabilities:

• Offers exceptional assistance to members by greeting them warmly, handling purchases efficiently, and responding courteously to inquiries.
• Utilizes the POS software to scan merchandise accurately for proper pricing and inventory supervision.
• Handles a mix of payment types, including cash, checks, credit, and mobile transactions.
• Elaborates on the benefits provided by memberships, renewals, and upgrades, showcasing programs like BJ’s Loyalty and EASY Renewal.
• Ensures the precision of all transactions by issuing receipts and accurately handling change.
• Provides troubleshooting assistance to individuals encountering simple technical problems at self-service checkout areas.
• Manages the cleanliness of the front-end region, cash registers, and lanes for member transactions.
• Remains current with promotions and advertisements to notify members of discounts and special promotions.
• Following all club policies and procedures to maintain operational excellence and meet the needs of members.
• Performs supplementary tasks as assigned, which can involve assisting in alternative areas when required.
• Regular, anticipated attendance is a necessary function of this job.
