Cleaning Associate

Job Summary of Cleaning Associate:

Working as a Cleaning Associate at ShopRite will enable you to contribute to the establishment of a clean, safe, and friendly environment for both team members and consumers. As assigned by store management, you will be in charge of carrying out janitorial and maintenance tasks across the shop to keep the floors, common areas, and toilets as well as the fixtures clean and hygienic. Additionally, you will help with cart collection, trash management and recycling, and equipment maintenance in accordance with sanitary and safety regulations.

Responsibilities of Cleaning Associate:

• Maintain a clean, neat, organized, and safe store environment at all times.
• Clean and sanitize bathrooms, including all plumbing fixtures.
• Replenish restroom supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
• Clean floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, waxing, or vacuuming as assigned.
• Clean Associate breakrooms and other common areas as required.
• Monitor and restock cleaning supplies; notify management when inventory is low.
• Empty trash and recycling containers throughout the store and dispose of waste properly.
• Operate cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers and follow all safety protocols.
• Collect shopping carts from the parking lot and return them to the designated areas inside the store.
• Secure auxiliary doors when accessing exterior areas for cleaning or trash removal.
• Report equipment issues or unsafe conditions immediately to store management.
• Support other departments with maintenance-related tasks as assigned.
• Greet all Customers and provide them with prompt, courteous service and assistance.
• Observe safety and sanitation standards at all times, including proper chemical handling.
• Follow all store rules, policies, and procedures, including uniform and grooming standards.
• Perform duties in accordance with ShopRite Service Priorities (Safety, Friendliness, Presentation, and Efficiency).
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications of Cleaning Associate:

• The operation of baling machines, elevated pallet handlers, electric forklifts, and professional floor scrubbers is only allowed for individuals who are 18 years and older.
• The proficiency in English involves the capability of reading, writing, speaking, analyzing, interpreting, and comprehending the language proficiently.
• Ability to perform essential math procedures.
• Capability to stand and walk without pause during the designated hours of work.
• Proficiency in flexing, revolving, stretching, exerting force, pulling, and consistently lifting 25 lbs., occasionally extending to 50 lbs.
• Ability to tolerate dust, cleaning agents, and various temperature conditions.
• Capacity to work with cleaning solutions while consistently following safety procedures.
• Skill in interacting with customers in a welcoming and beneficial manner.
• Effectively cooperating with peers and carrying out tasks as guided by supervisors.
• Demonstrating the ability to conform to assigned timeframes and attendance guidelines.
