Role and Responsibilities:

Being a part of the Seafood Team entails actively participating in the operational aspects of the seafood section, focusing on preserving product freshness, adhering to food safety standards, and delivering exceptional service to customers.

• Provide service that is courteous, approachable, and knowledgeable to customers.
• Manage the upkeep and stocking of seafood displays, ensuring proper rotation, labeling, and presentation of products.
• Help patrons choose their seafood purchases, offer insights on cooking techniques, and address any special preferences they may have.
• Observe all requirements regarding food safety, cleanliness, and the correct labeling of items.
• Vigilantly assess product quality and promptly dispose of any items that do not meet the standards for sale.
• Enable seafood team leaders to succeed in reaching sales, margin, and labor efficiency goals.
• Aid in overseeing inventory levels, arranging back stock, and ensuring departmental tidiness.
• Adhere to the operational standards and guidelines in place for the store and department.

Mandatory Qualifications and Expertise:

• Exhibits strong customer service competencies alongside effective communication talents.
• Demonstrates a sense of urgency and efficiency when working in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Ready to develop expertise in seafood handling, cutting, and preparation methods.
• Skill in adhering to directions, policies, and procedures related to food safety practices is important.
• Readiness to work on nights, weekends, and holidays if the situation calls for it.

Desired Work Experience:

• Experience in retail, grocery, or food service is advantageous but not compulsory.

Essential Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Ability to manage loads of up to 50 pounds.
• Required to stand or walk continuously for 6 to 8 hours per shift.
• Frequent bending, squatting, twisting, and reaching.
• Ability to work effectively in wet and cold environments such as refrigerators and freezers.
• Exposure to FDA-regulated cleaning agents.
• Use of knives, cutting tools, and other seafood preparation equipment.

Compensation & Benefits:

Pay for this position typically starts at $15.00 per hour, with eligibility for Whole Foods Market's “Whole Benefits,” which may include health insurance, retirement plan benefits, store discounts, paid time off, and more. Eligibility is determined under the terms of the applicable plan at the time of hire.
