• Competence in fundamental mathematical operations.
• Competence in the operation of departmental equipment like slicers, scales, can openers, wrapping machines, rotisseries, fryolators, cheese graters/cutters, case cutters, and stoves/ovens is a required skill.
• Capacity to stay upright, flex, rotate, stretch, shove, tug, and regularly hoist objects weighing 25 pounds, with occasional ability to lift items weighing 50 pounds.
• Capability to function in diverse temperature ranges.
• Capacity to interact with a wide range of fresh, dried, or processed goods, spices, and powdered materials without experiencing any detrimental allergic effects.
• Aptitude for withstanding dust and cleaning solutions while engaging in everyday housekeeping responsibilities.

Responsibilities of Deli Counter Clerk:

• Employ a cutting device and relevant tools.
• Replenish Appy/Deli product.
• Make the Appy/Deli item sale-ready.
• Abide by established methods for handling the receipt, coding with dates, readiness, storage, marking with prices, organizing, and replenishing of items to uphold quality, accuracy, and safeguarding of product turnover and preservation.
• Adhere to Company protocols for handling defective and spoiled products and aid in regulating the quantity of damaged goods.
• Maintain open communication with the manager or delegated staff about any low stock situations or potential spoilage concerns.
• Maintain the stocked supply of salad bowls and other presentations in alignment with department expectations.
• Conduct routine checks on refrigeration machinery to verify optimal operation; promptly communicate any issues to management.
• Use and care for equipment as directed by the department and report any equipment issues without delay.
• Ensure that the work environment is clean, organized, and free from hazards for the safety of all employees.
• Move cargo from trucks and convey products to the Appy/Deli Department, which can vary in weight but typically falls around 25 lbs, with occasional items weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Perform regular lifting, pulling, pushing, and rotating of products weighing 25 lbs, occasionally reaching 50 lbs.
• Understand and comply with the Company's guidelines for minimizing shrinkage in the Appy/Deli Department.
• Operate equipment only when all safety precautions are in position and working effectively.
• Follow appropriate protocols when executing responsibilities to ensure safety.
• Ensure that all work areas, implements, and equipment are sanitized following the standards set by the Department of Sanitation and QA.
• Ensure that the floor remains free from any obstructions such as trash and liquid messes.
• Compare the received product with the information provided on the invoice.
• Adhere to the department manager's instructions when ordering the product.
• Transport garbage to the specified area for collection.
• Clear the cardboard for processing in the baler and handle the baler operations.
• Implement modifications to pricing as per the Department Manager's guidance.
• Demonstrates products in an enticing, aesthetically pleasing, and colorful display.
• Ensure you are informed about the prices and are aware of where items are located in the store.
• Share with customers the latest charitable initiatives that are being promoted for sale.
• Remain standing at your work station for the entirety of the scheduled work hours, which might go over 8 hours daily.
• Being well-informed about a wide range of merchandise enables one to discern the nuances in taste profiles, cooking methods, and the varying price points that exist within similar classes of products.
• Maintain oversight of the stock of cleaning supplies and disinfectants and alert the manager when supplies reach a minimum level as per the established procedures.
• Carry out responsibilities in compliance with applicable Local, State, and Federal regulations related to the Appy/Deli functions.
• Abide by the Company's regulations, policies, safety protocols, and security standards, along with complying with health and civil code regulations mandated by Local, State, and Federal authorities.
• Follow the Company's regulations on dressing and grooming, which involve complying with uniform standards, displaying a name badge, and ensuring hair is restrained with a hat or suitable accessories.
• Follow the QA protocols for hand hygiene and utilize disposable gloves while preparing food.
• Abide by the Company's HAZCOM policy and follow the manufacturer's instructions on the safe and correct utilization of chemical products.
• Make sure to participate in all departmental training courses.
