Store Support Staff

Job Summary:

The store clerk reports directly to the store manager and indirectly to both the assistant store managers and shift leaders. This position is responsible for duties such as cashiering, stocking, cleaning, and monitoring perishables. The store clerk provides excellent customer service and assists in maintaining excellent daily store conditions. This position accomplishes all job duties in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Demonstrates proficiency in cash register operations and conducts checkout procedures in accordance with or above the anticipated performance levels. This includes achieving the minimum transaction time per item and accurately processing various payment modes such as cash, EBT, debit cards, credit cards, WIC vouchers, gift cards, coupons, and checks.
• Complies with the regulations and policies governing check-out procedures and cash management.
• Maintains a consistent track record of meeting or exceeding the set standards for handling, stocking, and maintaining grocery, frozen, dairy, smoked meat, and perishable goods.
• Aids in the process of unloading packages from delivery trucks.
• Displays merchandise on platforms, shelves, peg hooks, or in baskets, and refrigerated units to meet stocking needs.
• Places stock as required, confirming the correctness and excellence of received goods, both physically and in the inventory database.
• Gathers and organizes carts in the parking lot.
• Maintains the store in excellent condition.
• Ensures a clean and secure working environment.
• Performs cleaning tasks according to instructions, including maintaining the tidiness of floors, windows, shelves, display cases, register area, backroom, restrooms, parking lot, and other relevant areas.
• Offers top-notch customer service by communicating in a friendly and respectful way.
• Collaborates with store management in training other store team members effectively.
• Monitors the systematic shifting of products with both clear and unspecified expiry dates.
• Checks that merchandise has visible price tags/signs and is arranged in compliance with company guidelines for presentation.
• Upholds the protection of company property, funds, and goods.
• Neatly organizes, trims, encases, and replenishes approved fresh goods.
• Gives a helping hand to new staff members when required.
• Executes supplementary duties, including working in alternate store sections as directed.

Qualification:

• Only individuals who are over the age of 18 are allowed to participate.
• Preference is given to individuals who possess a high school diploma or a similar level of education.
• Proven proficiency in retail sales with expertise in dry groceries, perishable goods, meat, general grocery items, cash management, and exceptional customer support preferred.
• Exceptional teamwork and adept problem-solving abilities.
• Proficient in English reading, writing, and communication is a fundamental requirement.
• Illustrate mastery in both oral and written communication, as well as adept interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in basic arithmetical operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division is a must, along with basic computer proficiency.
• It is crucial to display dependability and flexibility in order to cover scheduled shifts and be open to assisting in different store areas at short notice.
• It is necessary to uphold safety regulations.
• Employees must adhere to a uniform dress expectation.

Physical Requirements:

• The role demands the physical competency to reach, bend, balance, lift, and carry different objects weighing 20-50 pounds repeatedly during the shift, with the possibility of encountering items weighing 50-80 pounds.
• Essential to be able to remain upright, walk, or engage in movement for extended durations.
• Applicants must be adept at applying force, tugging, grasping, rotating, and utilizing sawing movements for prolonged durations in this job.
• Regularly carries out tasks in freezers, coolers, refrigerated environments, and delivery trucks, exposed to different weather conditions both inside and outside the store.
