Role and Responsibilities:
As a Meat Team Member, you will provide support in counter service, stocking, and sanitation while maintaining a positive company image through courteous, efficient service. Your role is essential to ensuring customers receive fresh, appealing, and safe products in alignment with Whole Foods Market's standards.
Ensure fresh and appealing displays by checking product quality, keeping cases and shelves clean and stocked, rotating and removing out-of-date items, and filling ice tables.
Maintain back stock in good order.
Assist with sampling programs, keeping sample areas full, clean, and visually appealing.
Clean cases, glass, signs, uprights, coolers, smokers, floors, and drains as required.
Arrive on time, properly groomed and dressed, ready to work all scheduled shifts, and attend required trainings and meetings.
Provide excellent customer service, address customer needs promptly, and model suggestive selling techniques; answer phones and pages courteously.
Maximize sales potential through proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product.
Follow established procedures including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices.
Maintain a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment; maintain equipment according to WFM cleanliness and safety standards.
Perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned; ensure accuracy of signs and pricing.
Immediately report safety hazards and violations.
Perform other duties as assigned by store, regional, or national leadership.
Required Skills and Experience:
Ability to proactively sell and deliver excellent customer service.
Basic knowledge of all products carried in the department.
Ability to visually examine products for quality and freshness.
Ability to read labels and familiarize oneself with various products.
Assist with periodic inventory checks.
Communicate clearly and respectfully with Team Members, customers, and vendors.
Follow directions, manage time effectively, and stay organized.
Passion for natural foods and the mission of Whole Foods Market.
Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with urgency.
Understand and comply with WFM quality goals.
Preferred Qualifications:
No prior retail experience is required.
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions:
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Stand or walk 6 8 hours per 8-hour shift.
Use hands for grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
Perform motions including bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals.
Work in temperatures up to 90°F and in wet/cold environments.
Handle knives and other cutting equipment safely.
Use tools and equipment including box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other machinery.
Work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Compensation and Benefits:
Wage range: $17.00 $25.40 hourly, commensurate with experience.
Eligibility for Whole Benefits including health insurance, retirement plans, store discounts, paid time off, and other benefit programs.
New entry-level Team Members who successfully complete their first 90 days may be eligible for a base rate increase.
