Bakery Associate

Role and Responsibilities:

As a Bakery Associate, you will support the Bakery Team by preparing, stocking, and maintaining displays while providing excellent customer service in alignment with Whole Foods Market standards. You will ensure freshness, product appeal, and a positive shopping experience for customers.

• Ensure fresh and appealing displays by front-facing, rotating, checking codes, and removing expired products.
• Stock and clean shelves, bins, and display areas.
• Monitor spoilage and communicate waste to buyers, Team Leaders, and supervisors.
• Maintain back stock in an organized manner.
• Assist with the sampling program and inventory checks.
• Deliver excellent customer service by addressing customer needs promptly and modeling suggestive selling techniques.
• Follow established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices.
• Perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned, ensuring accuracy of signs and pricing.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary working and shopping environment.
• Report safety hazards and violations immediately.
• Support team goals and perform additional duties as assigned by store leadership.

Required Skills and Experience:

• No prior retail experience required.
• Ability to sell proactively and provide excellent customer service.
• Basic knowledge of products carried in the Bakery department.
• Ability to visually examine products for quality and freshness.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Time management and organizational skills with the ability to follow directions and procedures.
• Ability to read labels, handle inventory, and maintain compliance with quality standards.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand or walk 6 8 hours, bend, squat, push, pull, and work in wet/dry conditions.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Comfort using tools and equipment such as knives, box cutters, pallet jacks, and ladders.

Compensation and Benefits:

The wage range for this position is $16.00 $25.40 hourly, commensurate with experience. Whole Foods Market offers “Whole Benefits,” which may include:

New entry-level Team Members who successfully complete their first 90 days of employment and remain actively employed in an eligible role may be eligible for a base rate increase after their 90-day anniversary.
