Job Summary of Store Team Manager:
In the store hierarchy, the Store Team Manager holds the second-highest position and is tasked with managing, training, and monitoring all department staff to ensure the store's success.

- Ensures adherence to company phone answering guidelines and spends a significant portion of their work hours on the sales floor assisting customers, supervising employees, and managing departmental activities.
- Instilling in staff the skills necessary to provide outstanding customer service and setting clear expectations for their accountability.
- Guaranteeing that the staff's food safety certifications and registration meet the necessary standards set by the state and county.
- The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for ensuring that the store is meeting and/or exceeding expectations in the following areas:
- Calculation of the Sales per Labor Hour Ratio to determine the profitability of store and department sales
- Typical Ticket Amount, Volume of Customers, and Expenses on Sold Produce
- EBITDA
- Confirms the selection of vendors for product ordering to receive the correct discounts and uphold profit margins.
- Secures compliance with company expectations regarding in-stock conditions
- Monitoring the assortment of products in inventory, including:
- Regular scrutiny of departments to keep successful products and discontinue those with very limited sales activity
- New products are regularly incorporated in accordance with company guidelines.
- Abides by the company's stocking and rotation standards for perishable items.
- Markdowns are managed following the standard operating procedures of the company.
- Accountable for aiding the Store Manager in the hiring, training, and supervision of all store personnel according to company guidelines.
- Trains workforce, delegates responsibilities, and ensures task achievement.
- Validates the precision, comprehensiveness, and relevance of both master and daily schedules to store needs. Ensures schedules are posted promptly and assigns daily tasks according to company task sheets.
- Partners with department heads to assign staff for daily operational needs.
- Educates and oversees staff members to uphold a holistic store ambiance and assist customers throughout the store.
- Assists department heads in cross-training staff members to effectively handle a variety of tasks.
- Partners with staff to ensure adequate product knowledge to meet customers' needs, training staff on where to find answers to customer questions by utilizing store resources.
- Supports the Store Manager in completing and executing all store employee performance evaluations with collaboration from department managers. Assists in approving salary raises when appropriate.
- Coordinates with department managers to interview and hire individuals who align with the store's personnel needs.
- Deals with all performance and disciplinary matters appropriately and in a timely fashion, working closely with Human Resources for resolution.
- Supports open and straightforward communication with store employees by helping conduct monthly staff meetings and sharing corporate updates and information.
- Tasked with monitoring and enforcing safety guidelines consistently.
- Commits to completing all Ulti-time edits promptly.
- Accountable for aiding the Store Manager in training, coaching, and nurturing store associates.
- He/she supports staff in expanding their knowledge of nutrition and product details.
- Following company policies, he/she and store staff address customer questions with the use of Structure/Function statements and information on nutritional aid.
- Carries out operational duties proficiently, covering tasks such as managing daily schedules, checklists, and opening and closing procedures.
- Validates the punctual completion of store paperwork and reports, such as the Monthly Manager's Report.
- Successfully finalizes the DSR and Manager's Cash with accuracy and efficiency.
- Covers department manager calls during shifts and helps coordinate breaks and lunch coverage.
- Managing occasional disturbances that impact daily business routines, such as handling loiterers, addressing solicitation problems, responding to emergency weather events, and enforcing appropriate restroom usage.
- Follows a store-centric schedule that may involve working evenings, weekends, and being scheduled for 45 hours per week.
- Educates employees on supporting decisions made by the home office, heeding directions from headquarters, and performing assigned duties correctly.
- Examines and conforms to directives (memos, telefaxes, emails) from the central office at a remote location.
- Remains fluid in adapting to diverse work demands to achieve desired outcomes.
- Management roles in the workplace carry the expectation of leadership, where managers are to demonstrate the standard of excellence through their professional demeanor and performance.
Qualification of Store Team Manager:
- High school diploma or GED required 1-2 years management experience in grocery and/or related retail experience, natural foods industry a plus.
- Capable of effectively juggling evolving priorities.
- Successfully passing the necessary food safety training courses and assessments to acquire certifications as required by state and county laws.
- To operate a forklift, individuals must obtain the necessary certification.
- Maintain compliance by keeping your food safety certifications current through continuing education and registering with the appropriate agency if necessary.
- Demonstrates a sense of immediacy in task completion and maintains strong organizational capabilities.
- Exhibits adeptness in handling customer service matters effectively.
- Competence in understanding and completing tasks as directed.
- Must be equipped with proper cashier handling knowledge.
- Capability in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook mandatory.
