Job Summary of Freight Manager:
Freight Manager are tasked with ensuring the smooth operation of their respective departments and must fulfill the responsibilities of the Manager on Duty (MOD) as scheduled.
Responsibilities of Freight Manager:

- Timely and precise handling of all purchase orders, return purchase orders, picking discrepancies, invoices, and paperwork.
- Examining and resolving all variations and irregularities.
- Having conversations with managers of departments about delivery challenges and stock shortages from vendors.
- Monitoring the progress of particular orders that have been placed.
- Utilizing a forklift and pallet jack in accordance with operations.
- Ensuring the back room is tidy and well-maintained.
- Verifying that all currently available products meet the company's established criteria.
- Managing the department team by assigning duties and ensuring they are carried out accordingly.
- Partnering with other managers from different departments to facilitate cross-training for staff members.
- Supporting in conducting interviews and selecting candidates to fulfill departmental staffing needs.
- Assisting the store manager in handling performance and disciplinary matters within the department.
- Managing the initiation and termination of store activities, which involve tasks like Daily Store Reconciliation (DSR) and finalizing cash procedures at the end of the day.
- Managing tasks related to operating the cash register, such as providing support as an additional cashier, processing product returns, dealing with customer grievances, and accommodating changes in register shifts, including those for scheduled breaks.
- Upholding the safety and security of both customers and employees.
- Addressing sporadic interruptions in day-to-day business functions such as handling loiterers, solicitors, emergency weather incidents, and inappropriate restroom utilization.
- Addressing customer queries following the protocols and standards set by the company, which may entail utilizing statements on the benefits of product structure and function as well as nutritional assistance.
- Ongoing development of knowledge about different products.
- Leveraging SAP and inventory management software to oversee operations, analyze information from BEx reports, communicate through email, and utilize additional IS applications as required.
- Working a schedule based on store needs which includes evenings, weekends, holidays. Position requires working five days, 40 hours per week and attending mandatory store meetings.
Qualifications of Freight Manager:
- High School diploma, GED or equivalent preferred.
- 1-2 years of experience in retail experience in a grocery or retail environment; natural foods background is a plus.
- 1-2 years of experience supervising others preferred.
- 1-2 years of receiving experience preferred.
- Ability to obtain forklift certification.
- Ability to pass food safety training courses and/or certifications as required by law and maintain compliance by keeping certifications up to date and registered if applicable.
- Ability to manage changing priorities and to stay focused with the task at hand.
- Sense of urgency in the completion of tasks.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Highly organized with great attention to detail.
- Ability to take direction and follow through.
- Must be cashier trained and able to count currency.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
