As a key member of our team, you will fill a variety of roles, including Cashier, Stocker, and Customer Courtesy, and must be passionate about service and model this behavior in all aspects of job performance. During a shift, you will be assigned to any of our departments, depending on our customer and/or business needs. At the direction of store management, you may work in any or all the following areas:
Effectively managing transactions and aiding customers with their purchases at the store's entrance area.
Duties involve interacting with customers in the Meat/Frozen department, Produce/Dairy department, and Dry Goods/Culinary Equipment & Supply department
Replenishing freight and rearranging products within each section.
You may be called upon to offer assistance during unique store events such as Vendor Fairs, sales floor reconfigurations, and inventory assessments.
Duties And Responsibilities
Front End:
Ensure all customers have an impeccable CHEF'STORE experience by developing and maximizing relationships with the store's customers. Utilize all tools and skills learned in the CHEF'STORE Way training and model the behavior in the store.
Perform sales and cash functions in the POS in an efficient and accurate manner. This includes scanning merchandise, by utilizing a held-held scan gun or 10 keypad, weighing product on countertop scales as necessary, and looking up any product that will not scan. Ensure that each item's barcode is accurately reflected in the system and report any discrepancies to Front End Lead or Manager of Day (MOD).
Carry out the task of transferring all selected merchandise from one cart to another at checkout, alongside conducting a visual check to ensure that the products have not been tampered with.
Double-check the contents of the cart against the items purchased, validating the accuracy of the transaction as customers exit the store in the role of a receipt inspector.
Perform the necessary actions for store opening and closing functions at the front end based on the allocated shift.
Sales Floor And Stocking:
Maintain an unwavering dedication to increasing sales metrics and controlling shrinkage levels. Help customers in identifying their desired items and educate them about the wide array of services available within the store premises.
Assist with receiving and managing inventory shipments, as well as organizing and stocking shelves in a neat and orderly manner, including monitoring product quality and ensuring proper rotation. Report any low stock levels to store management promptly.
Confirm the correctness of all labels by tagging unscannable products with a blaster, adding weight labels to items sold by weight, and attaching PLU tags to produce items.
Maintain a fully stocked sales floor on a daily basis by transferring merchandise from top stock to display shelves. Follow FIFO guidelines by stocking older products before newer ones. Replace any out-of-stock items promptly. Use reach trucks and pallet jacks for the efficient handling and stocking of goods.
Employ computer programs like Microsoft Word and Excel, along with any custom software needed.
Ensure that all products are easily reachable, visually appealing, and consistently in supply.
Help in making alterations to prices as guided by the Pricing Coordinator and Store Leadership.
Assist with the opening and closing procedures of the store.
Play a role in the inventory and cycle count procedures as required.
Customer Courtesy:
By safeguarding the facility and adhering to safety practices, you can ensure a secure environment for employees and clients. Notify store management of any safety issues observed in the store and attempt to resolve them promptly.
Maintain cleanliness in the sales floor, front end, and restroom areas through the use of cleaning equipment.
Maintain the cleanliness of the parking lot and store entrance area.
Bring carts back from the parking lot and corrals, making sure they are clean and in working order before placing them in their designated location.
Relationships:
This position necessitates interacting with employees across the company's hierarchy.
The job requires the employee to communicate with customers and other providers of services and products.
Work Environment:
Work is performed in a retail store setting, open to the public. While performing the duties of this job, exposure to outside weather conditions which can include inclement weather. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work is typically performed on a level surface however the use of a ladder or working on an elevated surface may be required as needed. Temperature varies throughout the store ranging from -10 to 85 degrees. Required to physically interact with customers.
Minimum Qualifications:
Previous experience in retail as a cashier or stockist for a period of six to twelve months is an essential qualification.
Individuals with a background in retail sales or customer service, with a minimum of one year of experience, are highly sought after.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrating a proactive approach to delivering exceptional customer service and showing readiness to support colleagues are essential qualities.
Deliver rapid, effortless, productive, and expert service to each customer.
It is important to exhibit practical common sense, logical thinking capabilities, and a basic mathematical proficiency.

The job requires having a flexible hourly schedule, which includes weekends and holidays.
Basic computer skills, cash handling experience, and proficiency with general office tools are prerequisites for the position.
A high school diploma or relevant work history is essential for applicants to meet the educational criteria.

Grasping Mechanisms: Hand truck, boxes, cartons, steering wheel
Capability in using hands for jobs such as typing and managing office machinery including copiers and printers is crucial
