Job Summary of Meat Operations Manager:
Supervise and coordinate the Meat Department's activities to reach revenue and profitability targets while maintaining the superior quality, safety, and appearance of meat merchandise. Train, guide, and incentivize team members to provide outstanding customer service and enhance operational efficiency within the department.
Responsibilities of Meat Operations Manager:
- Organizes a weekly agenda considering predicted revenue, capacity, and assignments.
- Create customized merchandising plans with the Store Director to cater to local preferences and trends in the department.
- Implement authorized Meat Department blueprints for optimal spatial arrangement by considering foot traffic patterns, customer needs, and financial viability.
- Coordinate the procurement of goods and manage inventory to decrease shortages and surpluses, as well as enhance profitability.
- Comply with authorized steps for handling incoming items, tagging with prices, and replenishing stock to maintain quality security, precision, and rotation of products.
- Control department expenses.
- Engage in strategies to prevent and handle inventory discrepancies and theft incidents.
- Efficiently manage, educate, arrange work hours, and complete yearly performance assessments for all Meat Department employees.
- Carry out the prescribed maintenance routine for cases, coolers, refrigerators, and the meat department staff as per the plan.
- Uphold a positive perception of the department among customers by cultivating a tidy, pleasant, and welcoming atmosphere.
- Ensure the maintenance and timely submission of essential records, reports, and inventory counts twice a month.
- Stay abreast of the Meat Department's surroundings and competitors' actions to keep everyone informed.
- Maintain strong communication channels in the Meat Department and stay abreast of competitive activities to keep others in the loop.
- Follow state regulations and health protocols.
- Follow the guidelines set forth by local, state, and government authorities regarding weights, measures, and labeling regulations.
- Offer greetings to all patrons and remain vigilant.
- It is crucial to make certain that all workers comply with the appropriate lockout/tagout process when fixing or tidying mechanical or electrical apparatus.
- Accept, measure, and dissect meat and its corresponding products.
- Trim and prepare all merchandise according to the standards set by the company.
- Follow the company guidelines as described in the Employee Handbook.
Qualifications of Meat Operations Manager:
- High school education minimum requirement.
- Ability to read and write to properly tag merchandise, order and maintain inventory and to insure proper rotations of product.
- Above average analytical skills necessary to study and interpret various reports to keep the department profitable.
- Should have at least two years experience as a meat cutter.
- Must have excellent oral and written communications skills for dealing with customers, employees and vendors.
- Must have dexterity in hands to enable the cutting and trimming of the meats.
- Ability to lift up to seventy (70) pounds at least forty percent (40%) of the time.
