Assistant Deli Manager
Job Summary of Assistant Deli Manager:
Support the deli department’s operations by delivering excellent customer service, maintaining product quality and freshness, and supporting daily functions including merchandising, training, and compliance. Collaborate with the Deli Manager to oversee department efficiency and team performance.
Job Duties and Responsibilities of Assistant Deli Manager:
- Provide quality customer service by greeting customers, answering questions, offering product suggestions, and maintaining a positive and professional attitude.
- Ensure fresh, quality merchandise by following proper product handling techniques and minimizing damages or losses per Weis Markets standards.
- Assist the Deli Manager in managing operations such as merchandising, advertising, associate engagement, and sales planning to optimize department performance.
- Track weekly sales reports, monitor product orders, and maintain inventory accuracy for successful period-end audits.
- Support associate scheduling, assign work duties, manage labor costs, and assist in performance development and recognition.
- Audit and enforce operational policies and procedures including receiving, pricing, freshness, cleanliness, and accurate record keeping.
- Ensure regulatory compliance for food safety, sanitation, labeling, health guidelines, weights, and measures.
- Complete required product logs and adhere to safety procedures when using equipment or tools.
- Promote smooth workflow and collaboration within the team by communicating effectively and striving for continuous improvement.
- Perform staff-level duties when necessary and complete other tasks as requested by management.
Qualifications and Experience of Assistant Deli Manager:
- High school diploma or GED (completed or in progress).
- Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in a retail, restaurant, or supermarket environment.
- Ability to meet all essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
