Job Summary of Dairy Department Clerk:

The Dairy Department Clerk supports the Dairy/Frozen Manager in overseeing the efficient performance and financial success of the Dairy/Frozen department. Tasks of the Dairy Department Clerk comprise restocking, rotating, and supervising products in the dairy and frozen sections to ensure freshness, availability, and visual appeal. This position involves duties such as unloading deliveries, verifying expiration dates, arranging exhibits, and ensuring precise pricing and labeling.

• Facilitating the department manager in ordering for the dairy and frozen sections and ensuring inventory levels are precise.
• Aiding department managers in the oversight of margin, COGs, and overall department profitability, including efforts to minimize shrink and improve purchasing efficiency.
• Affirming that all available products meet the specified standards set by the company.
• Handling special orders and keeping customers informed.
• Incorporating merchandising shelving, endcap solutions, and dynamic exhibit designs.
• Assisting in supervising and participating in marking, displaying, relocating, tidying, reducing prices, restocking, and organizing back-up inventory.
• Guiding and monitoring department personnel as they undertake their assigned duties and responsibilities.
• Active demonstrations require direct involvement from the presenter, whereas passive demos allow the audience to observe without participation.
• Collaborating with department heads to handle performance concerns within the department.
• Providing support for the opening and closing procedures of the store, including responsibilities like compiling the Daily Sales Report (DSR), managing cash transactions, and ensuring completion of cashier closeout tasks.
• Responsibilities for register operations comprise overseeing backup cashiering tasks, handling customer returns, addressing complaints from customers, and managing changes in register shifts, including coverage during scheduled breaks.
• Preserving the safety and security of clients and staff.
• Giving answers to customer queries in line with company policies, including the use of health-conscious statements or endorsements of nutritional benefits.
• Always deepening understanding of merchandise.
• Applying SAP and inventory management software, in addition to emailing and utilizing various other IS programs as necessary.
• Working a schedule based on store needs which includes evenings, weekends, holidays. Position requires working five days, 40 hours per week and attending mandatory store meetings.
• The role's duties as a manager on duty are restricted, without the expectation of assuming full managerial responsibilities for the store.

Qualifications of Dairy Department Clerk:

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent preferred.
• 1 year of experience in grocery or retail environment preferred; natural foods background is a plus.
• 1 year of experience supervising others preferred.
• Ability to pass food safety training courses and/or certifications as required by law and maintain compliance by keeping certifications up to date and registered if applicable.
• Ability to manage changing priorities and to stay focused with the task at hand.
• Possess a sense of urgency in the completion of tasks.
• Possess excellent customer service skills.
• Highly organized with great attention to detail.
• Ability to take direction and follow through.
• Must be cashier trained and able to count currency.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Outlook
