The Produce Team Associate plays a crucial role in helping the Produce Manager maintain the produce department's success and profitability.

• Building an inviting and convenient produce section that is properly stocked with a variety of fresh and enticing options for customers to shop from.
• Contributing to maintaining accurate inventory levels and assisting in ordering processes for the produce department.
• Aiding the department manager in overseeing margin, COGs, and department profitability, with a focus on minimizing losses and improving purchasing strategies.
• The day-to-day upkeep of the department involves the responsibility of making sure the produce section remains fresh, well-stocked, and abundant throughout the day.
• Selecting, enhancing the condition, revolving, and adequately storing fresh produce.
• Confirming the purchase and delivery of solely organically certified fruits and vegetables.
• Checking to guarantee that the in-stock merchandise aligns with the company's quality expectations.
• Maintaining the cleanliness of tools and equipment according to the standards set by the health department and the company.
• Receiving incoming produce orders in compliance with the set standards and regulations of the company.
• Providing special order services and subsequent tracking.
• Supporting in the education and supervision of staff in the department.
• Executing dynamic and static demonstrations.
• Partnering with the department manager to deal with performance challenges in the department.
• Duties encompass overseeing register operations like backup cashiering, handling merchandise returns, resolving customer complaints, and managing register shift changes, including those for scheduled breaks.
• Safeguarding the well-being and security of customers and employees.
• Resolving customer queries in compliance with company policies, which may include incorporating structured statements highlighting the functions and nutritional aspects of the products.
• Perpetually advancing product comprehension.
• Employing email and information systems software as necessary.
• In the absence of another qualified employee, you may be tasked with completing DSR activities and finalizing the cash closing processes.
• Working a schedule based on store needs which includes evenings, weekends, holidays. Position requires working five days, 40 hours per week and attending mandatory store meetings.
• While there are some manager on duty tasks associated with this position, it is not intended to be the primary manager on duty for the store.

Qualification of Produce Team Associate:

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent preferred.
• 1 year of experience in grocery, retail or produce environment preferred; natural foods background is a plus.
• 1 year of experience supervising others preferred.
• Ability to pass food safety training courses and/or certifications as required by law and maintain compliance by keeping certifications up to date and registered if applicable.
• Ability to manage changing priorities and to stay focused with the task at hand.
• Possess a sense of urgency in the completion of tasks.
• Possess excellent customer service skills.
• Highly organized with great attention to detail.
• Ability to take direction and follow through.
• Must be cashier trained and able to count currency.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Outlook

Physical Requirements of Produce Team Associate:

• The role mandates having the strength to consistently lift or carry loads of up to 10 lbs., frequently handle loads weighing 11-20 lbs., and occasionally manage loads ranging from 21 to 50 lbs. It is also essential to occasionally lift or carry items ranging from 51 to 100 lbs. with the assistance of others.
• Should possess the capability to frequently push or pull items weighing up to 15 lbs and occasionally handle objects within the range of 16-100 lbs.
• Basic computer skills such as data entry and mouse operation are necessary on a sporadic basis.
• It is essential to be able to maintain continuous walking, standing, and fine motor skills, as well as grip and reach during the entire duration of the shift.
• Ability to frequently reach above chest level is essential.
• Ability to sit, kneel, crouch, and ascend periodically as the situation demands.
