Engaging in sales activities and providing assistance to customers at the front section of the store during the checkout process.
Obligations include customer service in the Meat/Frozen section, Produce/Dairy section, and Dry Goods/Culinary Equipment & Supply section
Replenishing stock and rearranging items throughout the store.
Support is welcome during distinct store events like Vendor Fairs, sales floor updates, and inventory check-ups.
Duties And Responsibilities
Front End:
Cultivate and maximize relationships with customers at CHEF'STORE to provide an exceptional shopping experience. Apply the techniques and knowledge gained from the CHEF'STORE Way training to display the expected behavior while assisting customers.
Perform duties related to sales and cash operations in the POS system accurately and productively. This includes utilizing a handheld scan gun or 10-key pad to scan merchandise, using countertop scales to weigh items as necessary, and addressing any challenges with scanning barcodes. Verify that the system accurately captures each item's barcode and escalate any discrepancies to the Front End Lead or Manager of Day (MOD).
Perform the action of relocating all items from one cart to another at the time of checkout, while also visually examining each product to check for any indications of tampering.
Check receipts against the items in the cart to confirm the accuracy of purchases as customers exit the store, performing the duties of a receipt checker.
Conduct opening and closing functions at the front end of the store based on the designated shift.
Sales Floor And Stocking:
Continuously concentrate on amplifying sales revenue and minimizing shrinkage incidents. Aid customers in finding their preferred items and inform them about the various service offerings present within the retail environment.
Provide assistance in managing inventory deliveries and organizing and stocking shelves in a neat and systematic way, also checking product quality and maintaining proper rotation procedures. Notify store management of any low levels of stock.
Guarantee that all products are properly labeled, including using a blaster for unscannable items, applying catch weight labels to items sold by weight, and sticking PLU tags on produce.
Ensure the sales floor is fully stocked each day by transferring items from the top shelves to the lower shelves. Maintain proper inventory rotation by stocking older products first according to FIFO guidelines. Replace any sold-out products promptly to meet customer demand. Use reach trucks and pallet jacks for efficient stocking procedures.
Make the most of computer software like Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as any proprietary tools needed for the job.
Guarantee that each item is conveniently placed, visually engaging, and continuously accessible.
Aid in adjusting pricing as instructed by the Pricing Supervisor and Store Managers.
Support in the opening and closing tasks necessary for the store's daily functions.
Contribute to the inventory and cycle count process when needed.
Customer Courtesy:
Ensuring the facility's maintenance and adherence to safety procedures are vital for creating a secure environment for staff and customers. Notify store management of any safety hazards in the store and rectify them as needed.
Ensure the sales floor, front end, and restrooms are clean with the help of cleaning equipment.
Keep the parking lot and entrance of the store free from litter and debris.
Round up carts from the parking lot and designated spots, then bring them back to the proper area while verifying their cleanliness and functionality.
Relationships:
The incumbent must interface with staff members holding diverse levels of responsibility within the company.
It is essential for the individual in this position to interact with customers and external service and product providers.
Work Environment:
Work is performed in a retail store setting, open to the public. While performing the duties of this job, exposure to outside weather conditions which can include inclement weather. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work is typically performed on a level surface however the use of a ladder or working on an elevated surface may be required as needed. Temperature varies throughout the store ranging from -10 to 85 degrees. Required to physically interact with customers.
Minimum Qualifications:
A background in retail, with a focus on cashiering and stocking, of six to twelve months is a prerequisite for this position.
Prior experience in retail selling or customer service for a duration of one year or more is advantageous.
