Job Summary:Service Cashier

In the position of The Service Cashier, the central duty is to provide a friendly, quick, and accurate checkout experience for our patrons. This includes processing purchases, managing payments, and advertising BJ’s membership opportunities, all while keeping the front end area clean and organized.

Core responsibilities, main tasks, and key accountabilities:

• Ensures a high level of member satisfaction through friendly greetings, efficient purchase processing, and polite responses to questions.
• Processes items via the POS system for accurate pricing and tracking of stock levels.
• Accepts various forms of payment like cash, check, credit, and mobile transactions.
• Highlights the advantages of being a member, renewing memberships, and upgrading through initiatives such as BJ’s Loyalty and EASY Renewal programs.
• Provides customers with receipts and correct change to guarantee the accuracy of all transactions.
• Aids patrons at self-scan and pay stations with basic technical issue resolution.
• Takes responsibility for ensuring the front-end area, registers, and checkout lanes are kept clean and orderly.
• Keeps an eye on promotions and advertisements to inform members about savings and exclusive offers.
• Abiding by club regulations and protocols to ensure operational efficiency and enhance member satisfaction.
• Completes extra responsibilities as delegated, which may include aiding in other departments as necessary.
• The position requires employees to attend work on a reliable and consistent basis.

Environmental Job Conditions:

• Regularly engaged in standing and walking on solid ground.
• Sporadic stooping, extending, and hoisting items up to 30 pounds (heavier objects with assistance).
• Mainly situated indoors with little exposure to temperature changes or loud noises.
• Periodic use of cleansing products.
